Is it normal for the havanese dog breed to have protruding lower teeth?? ?

Is it normal for the havanese breed (adult) to have protruding lower teeth (the lower teeth sticking out)? We just found a dog perfectly healthy and we don’t know much about him, we were told he was a shih tzu but recently found out that he is in fact a havanese any suggestions will help thaaaanks! icon smile Is it normal for the havanese dog breed to have protruding lower teeth?? ?
It’s malocclusion… (inncorrect bite) but it is indeed not uncommon in that breed, as well as shih tzus.. i have a shih tzu puppy and she defintatly has an underbite, but the vet said it’s not uncommon and should be OK. unless it causes any problems… I would just double check with your vet to make sure her situation wont cause any eating problems! just to be sure! and keep an eye on her as well! icon smile Is it normal for the havanese dog breed to have protruding lower teeth?? ? congratulations on your new friend! they’re so rewarding!!

No, that would indicate the dog has an incorrect bite. Not normal.

It is as normal as anyone with dental problems. A scissors bite is preferred if you are planning on showing the dog. If it is just a pet, it is your choice. Take a look at the links below. Thanks for asking this question, I learned something. I had no idea what a Havanese was. Sound like a good pet to have if you have children.
